Un file con estensione .p7m è una busta crittografica conforme allo standard europeo CAdES (RFC 5652). What is a .p7m file?
A .p7m file is a signed envelope used in Italy. Invoices from the tax exchange and PEC mail often arrive this way. Opening the envelope shows the document inside. Checking the signature against the official trust list is a separate step.
Can I open it without installing software?
Yes. This page opens one .p7m in the browser. You do not install Dike or Aruba Sign for that. The signature is not checked against the AgID trust list.
Does the file get uploaded?
No. Opening happens in this browser. The file is not sent to a server.
Will I get a PDF?
Yes, for one file. A PDF inside the envelope is shown on the page, and you can download it. An electronic invoice shows the number, the date, the seller, the buyer, and the totals. This page does not open a batch.
Is one file free?
Yes. One file in the browser is free, and it does not need an account.
Is showing the document the same as verifying the signature?
No. A reader can show the invoice or the PDF and still skip revocation checks. When verification is added, the page will say what it checked and what it did not check.
Does a .m7m file open here?
Yes. A .m7m file is the same kind of envelope. Drop it in the same box.
The PEC attachment is text, not a binary file. Will it open?
Yes, when that text is the envelope: it starts with BEGIN, or it is a long run of letters and numbers. The page reads it and shows the document. A mail message with no envelope has nothing to open.
The file name ends in .p7m.p7m. What do I do?
Drop it as it is. When one envelope sits inside another, the page opens them in order, up to eight, then shows the PDF or the invoice.
Which invoice fields are shown?
The number, the date, the document type, the seller, the buyer, and the amounts: taxable, tax, and total. If the invoice states a total, that figure is the one shown. This is not the full XML. The inner file downloads separately.
What if the signature is detached and the document is not in the file?
The page says so. It cannot show an invoice that is not in the file. You need the original document, not only the signature.
Can I open many files, or export to Excel?
This page opens one file at a time. The PDF or the invoice is read on the page, and the inner file can be downloaded. There is no Excel sheet and no batch.
If I rename a PDF to .p7m, will it open?
No. The name is not enough. When the signed envelope is not inside, the page refuses the file and does not show a document.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It is the same page. One file, in the browser.
Do I need an account?
No. Opening one file does not ask you to sign in. Google and email sign-in exist, and they are optional.
What if the file inside is neither a PDF nor an invoice?
You can still download the inner file. The preview is for a PDF and for an Italian electronic invoice. Other contents are not turned into a spreadsheet.
